In the last two decades new communications and computer-based technologies have produced profound changes in many occupations. This is especially true for the library profession where the impact of these technologies has been felt in day-today internal library operations, in interlibrary network arrangements, in content of education for librarianship and, finally, in the profession’s selfperception.
